Another great day in 5th grade. We continue to work on establishing our classroom norms and routines, while getting set to jump into the real "meat" of the year. We talked to day about expectations for desk work and I was again blown away by the insightfulness and thoughtfulness students brought to the discussion.
We also continued to work on everyones names with a few tries at "name everyone in the room" and a snap name game that proved harder than it sounded.
We also began to get a feel for the readers in the room. Students took a reading inventory about books they read and what they enjoy. They also began the rough draft of their book talk. This is meant to be a very informal outline, so students are ready to talk about their favorite book to the class over the next two days. If it's not finished, it's homework.
We took some time to look at our class data from the survey, as seen below:

OPPS- tech difficulties! Pictures not uploading. If this keeps any student from finishing the worksheet (many finished in class), let them know I'll give some time in the morning while I check in with kids!
Please check planners, we'll be filling them out every day
Specials today were Spanish and Library.
